PlanetScale is a database-as-a-service platform that is built on open-source Vitess, the technology that powers YouTube, Slack, and other hyperscale companies with the ability to make millions of queries per second and an infinite number of connections. It is a new DBaaS platform that allows you to spin up a database in seconds, without having to worry at all about connection management. They also introduced some really cool concepts like database branches (similar to Git branching logic) so your database migrations are seamless and non-blocking.
